Tanner has been wiggling and wiggling this tooth for some time now, and tonight all his wiggling paid off. His plan was to wait until Bampa came and let him pull it out, but it got so loose tonight that he decided he would let Dad take a look at it. (I definitely think this is a "Dad Area." I do not enjoy the sound of roots popping and snapping.) First we tried the floss around the tooth thing, but Tan kept pushing the floss off with his tongue, then we tried having him bite into a big hunk of meat (we had roast for dinner), but Tan kept pushing the meat to the side of his mouth. Eventually Greg had Tan lay down on the couch and was able to get a piece of floss underneath the tooth... one tug and pop Tan had lost his first tooth. He was so excited I think he immediately forgot about the hurt. The whole ordeal ended up with Tanner getting the last Dove Ice Cream Bar out of the freezer. And those of you who know me know that this is a big deal. Dove Ice Cream Bars are a special treat around here and the kids aren't usually allowed to have any... as my dad would say "They just can't appreciate how good they are." (We used to hear that saying about Haagen Daz Ice Cream and Hayday Cookies when we were growing up.) Tan was so excited for the tooth fairy to come that he put himself to bed and he was asleep before I even realized his lights were out! These type of "growing up moments" are fun.
