Me: "Are you excited for school Tan?"
Tan: "Yes, but you can't come in my room."
Me: "But I want to get pictures Tan."
Tan: "Well, I have an idea, you can take pictures in the hall."
Me: "But I need to get some papers from your cubby." (trying to think of any tactic to get me in that room)
Tan: "Well, I can get the papers for you and hand them to you then you can take my picture in the hall."
Me: "Uh, ok."
So, the morning came and Tanner was up and dressed by 6:30. The morning went off with out a hitch. We were all ready to go with plenty of time to spare. We headed to the school, as soon as we got there Tanner was non-stop talk. He stayed right by us and chatted about all that was going to happen that day. Then we entered the school. Tan was 5 steps ahead of us from there on out. (I was choosing to think that he was just THAT excited.) Then we got to his room. I realized that he was THAT excited, but that wasn't the reason he was 5 steps ahead. We walked through the door and I snapped a couple pictures (he wouldn't even pretend to look at me.) Quickly begged a hug off him and left before we embarrassed him too much. I love that kid, I'm glad he loves school. And I know he loves me too (and it's not only because he was able to take a Lunchable for lunch today.)

Ha!! Tanner is so funny!! I was surprised that mine let me take pictures of them in their class- I have a strong feeling that next year I will be told only in the hall too!!
Too cute! I can't wait until I'm embarrassing. :) Hope you guys are doing great.
HA HA HA That is SO funny! I love that he knew you'd be following him right in to class with the camera. He is so funny. Glad you were able to get some pictures. HA HA HA HA
Ha Ha! Love the picture of him 'pretending' you're not there!
You are not alone. Last night Scott told me that Grant had asked if I could just take pictures at home instead of coming into the classroom. The PDA gets less and less each year. Last year I could at least walk him to the top of the hall of his classroom. Sad that they grow up so quick and think that they don't need us.
Funny Tanner! It comes with mixed feelings when they are eager to head off without any sadness.
Renae tried to leave me by the office, too. I think I'll have to forgo next years pics. They grow up too soon!
When did Tanner go from a kid to a man! He looks so big. I will be so sad when Aus does that. I have a feeling it's not far away.
Hi Amy I seen your blog through Casi's how are you? You guys are in Arkansas what took you out there??? Your kids are getting so big I remember when Tanner was just little, well I hope you don't mind me checking your blog out, I hope all is well... Here is my blog therosenvallclan.blogspot.com. Take care MEREDITH :)
Garrick doesn't think I'm embarassing yet, but every day I take him to day care he says, "just leave mom." I know a little how you feel, I can't imagine how he'll be when he's Tanner's age. I did notice Tanner was very independent when we saw him over the summer, couldn't be a Bench kid could he?
